How to
Select the text you want to translate, hold Cmd, and press C twice. The copied text is translated and shown in place.
You can also type into the app and translate directly. Ask follow-up questions about the translation to get an explanation.
On this page, try it: select any part of a sentence, then press Cmd+C+C. The full prepared translation of every sentence that contains your selection appears in the language chosen in the header.
Requirements
- macOS 26.5 or later
- Apple Silicon (M1 or later)
- A Gemini API key (create one in Google AI Studio and save it in Settings)
Intel Macs are not supported. macOS 26 is Apple Silicon only.
Permissions
Glosk asks for Input Monitoring. macOS warns for a reason—this is a powerful permission. Here is what we use it for.
Input Monitoring (required)
Used only to detect Cmd+C+C. We do not log keystrokes or send them anywhere.
Accessibility (optional)
Used to swallow the second C so it does not reach the frontmost app. Translation still works without it. If you skip it, the second C is also delivered to the other app. Decline it if you prefer.
You can revoke either permission anytime in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
How your text is handled
Text you translate leaves this Mac. It is sent directly to Gemini (Google) with the Gemini API key you configured. Glosk’s operator never sees that text in transit.
Do not translate secrets or text that must not leave your machine.
Recent translations are cached on this Mac for faster repeat views (they expire after 30 days). That cache never leaves your computer.
Download
Unzip and move Glosk.app to your Applications folder.
Signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized. On first launch you confirm the developer; Gatekeeper will not block it with a malware warning.
After install, the app checks for updates automatically (or use menu bar > Check for Updates…).
License
Glosk requires a license. Choose a plan below (or open this page from the app), then register the license key in Settings. Billing, tax, and customer management stay with Polar—Glosk has no app server.
After purchase, copy the license key from Polar’s customer page and paste it into Settings. Cancel or update billing from Manage License & Billing in Settings, which opens Polar’s customer portal.
